Photographs by George Platt Lynes, Carl van Vechten and Jack Mitchell and abstract pastel works on paper of artist Francisco Moncion are currently highlights of our collection that represent the mid-20th Century aesthetic.  Platt Lynes, van Vechten and Mitchell are well known photographic icons of the century. Moncion was a renowned classical ballet dancer and a charter member of the New York City Ballet. NYCB founder and artistic director George Balanchine, created 22 ballets on Moncion including The Prodigal Son and the Angel in "Orpheus". During the 1950's and 1960's Moncion, who was also a gifted visual artist, exhibited internationally alongside Picasso, Miro and Italian artist Corrado Cagli.
